Mr. Benjamin Cummings Tribute

Final Score: Faith 56 – Earthly Time 0

2 Timothy 4:7 — “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

On February 8, 2026, in Charlotte, North Carolina, the final whistle blew for Benjamin Timothy “Tim” “Pebo” Cummings at age 56. Born October 8, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Fairmont, North Carolina, Benjamin entered the stadium of life with heart, grit, and undeniable swagger. From Fairmont High School to earning his diploma through the Urban League in Charlotte, he kept advancing the ball. He had a brief stint on the U.S. Army roster before transitioning into the workforce, playing whatever position was needed and giving each role his all.

Known first as “Tim,” but famously as “Pebo,” he was the teammate who kept the locker room alive. A master of playful trash talk—especially when it came to his Carolina Panthers—he never missed a chance to call the plays loud and proud. If life was a rivalry game, Benjamin showed up ready, win or lose, with laughter that echoed like a roaring crowd.

He was drafted into the all-star lineup of family: beloved son of the late Flora Cecilia McNair Cummings and Benjamin Cummings; devoted father to Bahjene Cummings (Aaliyah), Tymia Cummings (Adrian), Shatiya Washington, and Shanika Washington (DJ); and proud grandfather to nine rising rookies—Ayden, Arian, Kendall, Amir, Chase, Charlee, Bahjene Jr., Kaitlyn, and Jayden—each one his personal victory celebration. Devoted God father to Shakila Thomas. He shared an enduring connection and history with Angela Williams, the mother of his children.

On the sidelines cheering him on—and now carrying the legacy forward—are his siblings Kevin Cummings (Lisa), Kenneth Cummings (Felicia), and Belinda Cummings. He reunites in the championship stands with his brothers Ronald, Stephen, and Michael Cummings. His longtime friends—Shan, Leslie, Tony, Wesley, Cowboy, Hammer, Stanley, Fuzz, Wesley & Patches Ford, nieces, nephews, Goddaughter Shakila and many others—will forever replay the highlights of his humor and loyalty.

Benjamin played four strong quarters. There were hard hits, comeback drives, and moments when the clock seemed unforgiving—but he never left the field. And when the final seconds ticked away, he exited not in defeat, but in victory—having fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

The stadium may be quieter now, but the echoes of his laughter, strength, and love will forever ring in the hearts of those who knew him.

Game over. Victory secured. Well played, Pebo.
